DT ScanDoc file naming rules

Most users will be able to use the default folder and file names for saving DT ScanDoc files. To do this click the Reset to defaults button near the bottom right of the dialogue. If you have more complex needs the folder location and file name can be overridden individually.

Folder to save DT ScanDoc files

Click the radio button Saved in a specified folder if you do not want to use the DT ScanDoc default. The default location is in the "Attachments" sub-folder on the year branch of the DT Max database. In this case the folder is not stored in the DT Max ScanDoc-file keyword.

If you choose a fixed location for all files, then click the Fixed folder location radio button, and either type in the folder location, or use the browse control to the right.

If you want to define the folder by variables such as the client number, tax year etc., then click the Defined by a template radio button, and enter the template below. See DT ScanDoc file and folder templates for information on how to use templates.

Naming convention for DT ScanDoc files

The default name for a DT ScanDoc file is constructed from the first four characters of the client name, the client's ID (SIN, business number or trust number), and a unique sequential number to distinguish between files.

If you have special needs, select Defined by template, and enter a file name template below. See DT ScanDoc file and folder templates for information on how to use templates.
